Clearbit Logo API alternatives after the shutdown

The free Clearbit Logo API (logo.clearbit.com) shut down in December 2025. Here are the replacements for getting a company logo from a domain, and how they compare.

For years, https://logo.clearbit.com/stripe.com was the default way to show a company logo from a domain. HubSpot, which acquired Clearbit, deprecated the free Logo API in 2025 and shut it down in December 2025 (HubSpot changelog). Any still pointing at logo.clearbit.com is now broken.

Here are the replacements, as of October 2026.

The options

Service URL shape Key Free tier Paid from
logo.dev img.logo.dev/stripe.com?token=pk_… Required 500K requests/month, attribution required $33/month
Brandfetch cdn.brandfetch.io/stripe.com?c=CLIENT_ID Client ID required 1M requests/month, must hotlink $99/month
LogoKit img.logokit.com/stripe.com?token=… Required 5,000 logos/day, attribution $40/month
avatarapi avatarsapi.com/domain/stripe.com None Anonymous, no key $19/Project/month
Google favicons google.com/s2/favicons?domain=stripe.com&sz=128 None Unofficial, no terms or SLA n/a

logo.dev

logo.dev is the replacement HubSpot points to, built by former Clearbit people. It has the largest logo database of the group (100M+ companies by its own count) and also looks up by brand name, stock ticker, crypto symbol, and ISIN. If you only need logos and want the closest drop-in, start here. They publish a Clearbit migration guide.

Brandfetch

Brandfetch has a generous free tier with no attribution, plus theme variants (dark/light) and separate icon, symbol, and full-logo assets. The catch is in the terms: you must hotlink rather than cache, send a client ID on every request, and use it only inside your own product (docs).

avatarapi

avatarapi is not a logo database. It is an avatar API that also answers domains. /domain/:domain walks a Ladder: it checks the domain's BIMI record first (the verified brand logo many companies publish for email), then DuckDuckGo and Google favicons. Every candidate is fetched and validated as a real image before it is served, so a domain with nothing usable returns a 404 JSON envelope instead of a generic globe.

Pick it when you also need people, not just companies. The same API takes /email/jane@stripe.com and /github/username, so one pattern covers a CRM row whether it is a person or an account:

No key is needed to start, and a Project gives you a browser-safe pk_ key and paid Plans. See the docs.

Google and DuckDuckGo favicons

google.com/s2/favicons and icons.duckduckgo.com/ip3/<domain>.ico work and cost nothing, but neither is a documented product. There are no terms, no SLA, low resolution for many sites, and Google returns a default globe instead of an error when it has nothing. Fine for an internal tool, risky for a product.

Migrating

The change is a URL rewrite in most codebases:

- https://logo.clearbit.com/${domain}

avatarapi answers a Miss with a 404, so an existing onerror placeholder for missing logos keeps working unchanged.

Facts about third-party services are from their own pricing and documentation pages as read on October 19, 2026. Prices change; check each page before you commit.

Try it: put https://avatarsapi.com/github/torvalds in an . No key, no signup. Read the docs or create a Project.
